Quit Smoking By Hypnosis

man-and-cigarette-1387649669cGDQuit smoking hypnosis MP3s.

Smoking is one of the most addictive behaviors a person can have. It is said that even if a pack a day smoker manages to quit for a few years, the tendency to return to the habit is quite big. All he has to do is take one drag and the entire addiction is back again. Hypnosis is one of the many methods which can seriously help. A friend of mine once tried to quit smoking by hypnosis. With this short story of his experience, you can get some insight into what you expect your experience to be.

He was a pack a day smoker, for about 5 years or so. He actually needed the cigarette to feel calm and think straight. The urge to quit, finally, became larger than the urge to smoke, so he decided to give hypnosis a try. His experience was nothing short of astounding!

What he did was buy a Quit Smoking Mp3 from one of the popular online retailers. Burnt it on to a CD, put on some headphones and lay on his bed, waiting to be hypnotized. The first time he did it he fell asleep! The sessions tend to be a bit long, at around 45 minutes or so. There was no effect, so he made sure he stayed awake the next time.

So after he did it right, he started experiencing a very interesting mindset. He still wanted to smoke, he still knew he would enjoy the feeling of nicotine in his body, but he could not smoke! He would sometimes even put the cigarette into his mouth, but then he would put it back in its pack and keep it away. He said he was literally in two minds, one of them was a smoker and the other was not! And the non-smoker was stronger.

This only lasted for only about 4 – 5 hours or so. But this was because he listened to it just once. All hypnosis products recommend that it should be listened to at least for 10 days straight to have a long lasting effect. You should keep that in mind…

Hypnosis to Quit Smoking – Kick The Habit & Get A Life!

retro-smoking-lady-collageDownload a stop smoking hypnosis MP3 here.

I have often been asked if hypnosis for stopping smoking is indeed an effective means to kick the butt, and my reply has always been affirmative. Hypnosis, recent research has proven, affects smokers very noticeably. I recently read an article on the website newscientist.com, which talks about a research conducted by two researchers from the University of Iowa; a cross section of over 72,000 people across the globe who were in the process of quitting smoking. The results showed that out of all the methods used for de-addiction, hypnotherapy for stopping smoking was a resounding success.

A lot of hypnotherapists, including me, have been successfully using methods of hypnotherapy to help their clients in giving up the habit. The Iowa research has also proven that hypnosis for stopping smoking indeed showed better results than people who had been trying to give it up with no intervention, how else could it’s success rate be double of every method. A lot of smokers who want to quit the habit have failed in their efforts because of lack of will power and determination. However, clients who have used hypnotherapy seemed to set up a stronger example in terms of abstaining and a greater willpower.

Here’s how hypnosis for stopping smoking works- it works on the simple philosophy of positive suggestions. In hypnotherapy, a lot has to do with the power of your subconscious mind and helping it achieve great feats with the help of auto suggestion. When the method of hypnotherapy is used for smoking, it tells you the reasons of why and how you smoke, before moving on to suggestions of how you can stop smoking, and maintain the abstinence. With hypnotherapy you gradually instruct your mind to create positive thoughts, and build willpower in the face of temptations of nicotine and smoke.

It might sound very easy to you, but the fact is that it indeed is easy to use hypnosis for stopping smoking. One session with a hypnotherapist is all you need. By deciding to give up the habit, you have already made the hardest decision in the quitting process. Things only get better from here! The key to a successful no-smoking life is to follow the hypnosis routine regularly, as it is only practice that makes one perfect in self-hypnosis. Remember hypnosis for quitting smoking works on the power of positive suggestion; the more time you invest in self-hypnosis for smoking, the better the results. Add on sessions are offered by most therapists; however I personally feel that these top up sessions should only be used when extremely necessary. Hypnosis is about self reliance, so you shouldn’t be dependent on your therapist for all guidance. Be your own driver!

Smoking is a habit, whether it’s good or bad is an individual decision. But if you have decided to give it up, don’t let anything stop you. You have no idea how proud you will a year from now, when you refuse a cigarette offered to you. It will not only boost your confidence and self-worth, but it will also lead to a heavier pocket. If you are a chain smoker, you could end up saving a great deal of money; and then you could go ahead and splurge on a lavish holiday. A luxurious holiday in the Bahamas in exchange of 20 cigarettes a day…seems like a good deal. Just think about it!

I will not even shy away from saying that quitting smoking is child’s play; but only if you know the best way to achieve this. Nicotine is one of the hardest habits to break in the world, but hypnosis for stopping smoking could be your answer. Through positive affirmations you could achieve much more than just ridding yourself of the butt of all problems. Imagine having a healthier life, better performance at work, more stamina to play your favorite sport, and quality time with your family. Isn’t it just the life you want?

Hypnosis – Quit Smoking Techniques

smoke

It is very easy to start smoking but it is an uphill task to quit it. Ask any chain smoker or even a person who smokes just a few cigarettes everyday. Usually a person can stop smoking for a couple of days, then the urge to smoke is so strong that one makes all kinds of excuses to start it again. So you are back to square one. All kinds of methods have been advocated for quitting smoking, but the one that has made a big impact is Hypnosis. Hypnosis quit smoking methods has divided the medical fraternity into two. While some argue that Hypnosis quit smoking methods are not effective in the long run, there are others who advocate quitting smoking using hypnosis. They feel that hypnosis for quitting smoking is as effective as products that help one stop smoking.

It doesn’t matter how long you have been smoking, whether you are a social smoker or a chain smoker if you want to quit smoking then hypnosis can help you. Everyone who has tried to quit smoking knows about the mood swings, lethargy and the intense cravings. When you use hypnosis to help you stop smoking, you have the help of a hypnotherapist who slowly takes you into a dreamlike state. You relax from head to toe. During this period a person is very receptive to suggestions. The hypnotherapist would then use many positive suggestions that would help a patient to cut down his cravings for cigarettes. This is because one is in a relaxed state after hypnosis, therefore one feels less stress. And when one is less stressed one doesn’t have the urge to smoke.

There has been a lot of debate on whether hypnosis quit smoking methods work in the long run. Some people are of the opinion that during the period of hypnosis treatment the patient is able to control his urge to smoke, but the moment the treatment is over they cannot control the urge to smoke. In spite of this hypnosis is still one of the most popular methods to help one quit smoking. In the USA there are quite a few clinics that help one to quit smoking using hypnosis. For example Iowa and Indiana have a number of such clinics.

But the most important thing that you must remember when you want to quit smoking is that any method, whether it is hypnosis quit smoking methods or any other methods will work only if you have the willpower to say no to cigarettes.

Ten Powerful Tips to Stop Smoking

smoking-14468974070QL

Powerful Hints to Stop Smoking

Whether you are using Nicotine Replacement Therapy, Hypnosis or just Cold Turkey, these strategies and hints are for aiding you to stop smoking and are sure to assist you in helping your neurology change and thus enable you to stop smoking with ease. It is up to you to ensure that you do these things to really enhance what you are doing, the more effort you put into these exercises, the easier it is to stop smoking for good.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 1.

Being a smoker is like cycling with stabilisers attached to the wheels, you can find it hard to be balanced without smoking. Now, when you cycle freely again, the natural balance returns.

When people smoke, more than half of what they breathe is fresh air – pulled through the cigarette right down into the lungs. So if you feel any cravings you can instantly overcome them by taking three deeper breaths. Imagine breathing from that space just below your belly button. Whenever you do this you put more oxygen into your bloodstream. This means you can use deep breaths to change the way you feel instantly and give you power over the way you feel and help you let go of those old cravings and thus making it easier to stop smoking.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 2

Next, think now of all the reasons you don’t like smoking, the reasons that it’s bad and the reasons you want to stop smoking. Write down the key words on a piece of paper. For example, you experience breathlessness, it’s dirty, filthy and your clothes smell, your friends and family are concerned and it’s expensive, unsociable and so on. Then, on the other side of the paper, write down all the reasons why you’ll feel good when you’ve succeeded in stopping. You’ll feel healthier, you’ll feel in control of your self, your senses are enhanced, your hair and clothes will smell fresher and so on. Whenever you need to, look at that piece of paper.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 3

Next, we are going to program your mind to feel disgusted by cigarettes. I want you recall 4 times when you thought to yourself “I’ve gotta quit”, or that you felt disgusted about smoking. Maybe you just felt really unhealthy, or your doctor told you in a particular tone of voice ‘You’ve got to quit’ or somebody you know was badly affected by smoking. Take a moment now to come up with 4 different times that you felt that you have to quit or were disgusted by smoking.

Remember each of those times, one after another, as though they are happening now. I want you to keep going through those memories and make them as vivid as possible. The more vivid you make those memories, the easier it will be to stop smoking. See what you saw, hear what you heard and feel how you felt. I want you to take a few minutes now to keep going through those memories again and again, overlap each memory with the next until you are totally and utterly disgusted by cigarettes.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 4

Have a think to yourself about the consequences of you not stopping smoking now, if you just carry on and on. Imagine it, what will happen if you carry on smoking. What are the consequences? Imagine yourself in 6 months time, a years time, even 5 years time if you do not stop smoking now. Think of all the detrimental effects of not stopping right now and how a simple decision you make today can make such an impact on your future.

Next, imagine how much better is your life going to be when you stop smoking. Really imagine it’s months from now and you successfully stopped. Smoking is a thing of the past, something you used to do. Keep that feeling with you and imagine having it tomorrow, and for the rest of next week. In your mind, imagine stepping in to that non-smoking version of you and feel how it feels to be a non-smoker.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 5

Also, your mind is very sensitive to associations, so it’s very important that you have a clear out and remove all tobacco products from your environment. Move some of the furniture in your house and at work. Smokers are accustomed to smoking in certain situations. So, for example, if you used to smoke on the telephone at work move the phone to the other side of the desk. Throw away ashtrays, old lighters and anything that you used to associate with smoking. Make your environment conducive to stopping smoking.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 6

Smokers sometimes use their habit to give themselves little breaks during the day. Taking a break is good for you, so carry on taking that time off – but do something different. Walk round the block, have a cup of tea or drink of water, or do some of the techniques on this programme. In fact, if possible drink a lot of fruit juice. When you stop smoking the body goes through a big change. The blood sugar levels tend to fall, the digestion is slowed down and your body starts to eject the tar and poisons that have accumulated. Fresh fruit juice contains fructose which restores your blood sugar levels, vitamin C which helps clear out impurities and high levels of water and fibre to keep your digestion going. Also try to eat fruit every day for at least two weeks after you have stopped.

Also when you stop, cut your caffeine intake by half. Nicotine breaks down caffeine so without nicotine a little coffee will have a big effect. Drink 8-10 glasses of water (ideally bottled) to help wash out your system.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 7

You were used to using cigarettes to signal to your body to release happy chemicals, so next we are going to programme some good feelings into your future. Allow yourself to fully remember now a time when you felt very deep ecstasy, pleasure or bliss, right now. Take a moment to recall it as vividly as possible. Remember that time – see what you saw, hear what you heard and feel how good you felt. Where abouts in your body were those feelings, imagine turning them up and spreading them through your body to make them more intense.

Keep going through the memory, as soon as it finishes, go through it again and again, all the time squeezing your thumb and finger together. In your mind, make those images big and bright, sounds loud and harmonious and feelings strong and intensified. We are making an associational link between the squeeze of your fingers and that good feeling.

Okay, stop and relax. Now if you have done that correctly when you squeeze your thumb and finger together you should feel that good feeling again. Go ahead do that now, squeeze thumb and finger and remember that good feeling.

Now we’re going to program good feelings to happen automatically whenever you are in a situation where you used to smoke but now you stop smoking.

So, next I’d like you to squeeze your thumb and finger together, get that good feeling going and now imagine being in several situations where you would have smoked, but being there feeling great without a cigarette. See what you’ll see hear and take that good feeling into those situations without a need for a cigarette.

Imagine being in a situation where someone offers you a cigarette and you confidently say ‘No thanks, I don’t smoke’. And feel fantastic about it!

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 8

Get social support. Your commitment to stopping smoking for the rest of your life can be made much easier by talking about it to friends and family and letting them support you. They will congratulate you on doing so well too! You really did stop smoking.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 9

Be aware of making excuses for yourself. Some people talk themselves into smoking, especially if they encounter a stressful situation and in the past they used to deal with it by smoking. If those old thoughts pop into your head, shout the word “STOP” in your head, to stop the thoughts from progressing. Nicotine just stresses your body more and is like that itch that can never be properly scratched; the more you smoke, the more you have to. So say “STOP” and steer clear of old slippery slopes.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 10

Reward yourself. Congratulate yourself. Feel how good it feels to stop smoking and be a non-smoker. Treat yourself each time you get past a certain milestone; the first week or first month, the six month target. Let yourself know that you did something really special here.

Keep on using your brain, stretching it and helping your self, by running through these exercises time after time; you are sure to be able to make it easier and easier and successfully stop smoking for good.

Seven Tips to Control Your Urge to Smoke

smoke

Quitting smoking is a very lengthy process. This can take a very long period of time such as several years, or it could be something much shorter like only a few weeks or months. The exact time frame that it takes to quit can vary greatly but what is important is ensuring that you are coming up with a plan to combat your urges to smoke. At some point in your experience trying to quit you will encounter a situation where the urge to smoke is very strong. How you handle this situation will go a long way towards your ultimate success. Being prepared for the urge to smoke will ensure that you have a plan to keep your willpower strong and continue on your path to quit smoking successfully.

Tip 1. Take the time to decide exactly when you typically smoke. For example, after meals, after a jog around the block, or even after your shower each morning. Knowing when you typically smoke will put you in a good position to create a plan to combat the urge.

Tip 2. Create a plan of attack. This could be something as simple as a stress ball for your hands, or even just a piece of hard candy to keep your mouth busy. If you really enjoy the taste and feeling of a clean mouth you could try brushing your teeth each time you want to smoke, or suck on a mint flavored candy, which will freshen your breath.

Tip 3. Avoid the temptations that lurk. If you go out to eat, make sure you are sitting in the no smoking area. Avoid going into tobacco stores, and also try to limit the amount of time you are around other smokers. If you are continuously around cigarettes, it will be much harder to resist temptation.

Tip 4. Clean your house of all smoking instruments. This means all ashtrays, lighters, matches and get rid of the smell of cigarettes. Products like Febreeze are great for helping to get rid of cigarette smell, which can also trigger an urge to smoke.

Tip 5. If you have a place where you typically smoke when you are at home, think about rearranging the area. If you are able to break the routine of the situation, you will be able to resist temptation much better. This works best if you always are in the habit of smoking in the exact same place, such as a living room looking out a window. If you move the chair to a different area of the room, or refocus the center of the room then you can help to avoid the temptation to smoke whenever you are sitting in the chair looking out the window.

Tip 6. Write down your goal to quit smoking. This may seem like a minor detail but in reality, it can go a very long way towards ensuring that you keep your priority to quit smoking at the top of your agenda. If you just tell yourself that you want to quit smoking, you are more likely to cheat and ultimately give into the urge to light up again. If you have written your goal down, you are going to be more likely to actually follow it. This goes for quitting smoking, losing weight, changing your exercise routine or anything else. Written down goals can improve accountability significantly.

Tip 7. Do not discount yourself. If you are absolutely certain that you can succeed you will be much more capable of the success that you need. It is important to believe that you can succeed. This will help you to stay strong anytime a serious urge kicks in. If you decide to slip up consciously, you are going to find it is much harder to gain back any slack that you have cut for yourself. However, if you hold fast to your dedication to quit smoking you will find that each time you have an urge it is easier to handle.
